The Singapore Discovery Centre is not the Science Centre. That is the first thing to know.
It is run by Defence Collective Singapore, the parent company of Singapore Discovery Centre and Singapore Navy Museum. It sits in Jurong West. Its focus is narrower than Science Centre. The Singapore story is told through interactive exhibits, simulators, a movie theatre, and immersive experiences.

What the Singapore Discovery Centre is
The SDC is an edutainment centre. Part museum, part interactive play space. It opened in 1997 and has a military and national-story theme. It is managed by Defence Collective Singapore.
It is not a conventional museum. Almost everything here expects you to do something. Fly a simulator. Shoot a paintball. Solve a puzzle. Or watch a movie on a giant screen.

- Permanent Exhibits Gallery (PEG): A guided tour of Singapore’s history, defence evolution, and future challenges. Free for Singaporeans and PRs.
- Sandbox: An interactive gallery about contemporary Singapore issues.
- iWerks Theatre: A movie theatre showing current blockbusters. Members get complimentary tickets each month.
- Army Experiential Programme: A military-themed activity for $5 per person. Popular with school groups.
- Crossfire Blaster: A paintball arena — Singapore’s first multi-tiered paintball arena.
- Black Lake Laser Battlefield: A laser tag arena with vest and phaser gear. Recommended for ages 7+. Covered shoes required.
- Escape Rooms: Four themed rooms — The Armoury, The Basement, The Medical Centre, and The Research Lab. The Black Lake Facility is the largest double-storey escape room experience in Singapore.
- SAFTI MI Bus Tour: An exclusive guided bus tour of the SAFTI grounds.
- Eco Tour: A walking tour about Singapore’s water sustainability and conservation. Discovery Lake features over 600 solar panels as part of the centre’s eco-sustainability initiatives.
- Discovery Lake: A scenic walk with over 600 solar panels. Features Singapore’s award-winning longest sheltered walkway fitted with solar panels.

SDC also runs limited-time experiences. The current highlight is Mission SG: Operation Broken Oath. It is a two-hour night mission where you follow clues and crack codes. It is SDC’s first-ever night experience.

Who the Singapore Discovery Centre suits best

Not ideal for:

If you only have an hour, skip SDC and head to Science Centre Singapore instead. The SDC needs time: guided tours run on a schedule, and the best activities require booking.

Tips for a better visit
- Wear covered shoes. Black Lake Laser Battlefield and Crossfire Blaster do not allow heels, slippers, or sandals.
- Book ahead. Mission SG and some guided tours fill up on weekends.
- Arrive by 10am. The centre is quietest in the first hour.
- Combine with another Jurong attraction. SDC takes 1.5-3 hours. Pair it with Science Centre Singapore or Omni-Theatre for a full day.
- Check the movie schedule. An iWerks movie works well as a midday reset.
- Bring water and snacks. The cafe is fine but limited for main meals.

- Sun protection for the bus tour. The SAFTI tour includes outdoor sections.
