Why visit KidsSTOP

KidsSTOP is an interactive play-and-learn zone at Science Centre Singapore designed specifically for children aged 18 months to 8 years. It combines imaginative play with early science concepts in a safe, indoor environment.

Unlike the main Science Centre galleries, which work best for school-age children, KidsSTOP is scaled down. The exhibits are lower, the language is simpler, and the activities are designed for short attention spans.

What makes KidsSTOP distinctive

  • Supermarket zone: A miniature grocery store where children can push trolleys, scan items, and role-play shopping.
  • Construction area: Soft building blocks and pretend tools for hands-on building play.
  • Flight simulator: A scaled-down cockpit with basic controls. Children can pretend to fly a plane.
  • Water-play section: Shallow tables with flowing water, dams, and floating toys. Aprons provided.
  • Dress-up corner: Costumes and props for role-playing different professions.
  • Sensory wall: Interactive panels with lights, textures, and sounds designed for toddlers.

Admission and tickets

Entry to KidsSTOP requires a separate ticket from general Science Centre admission. Tickets cost S$7 for children aged 18 months to 8 years. Adults and children below 18 months enter free. Sessions run in two time slots: 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm.

Book in advance on the Science Centre website, especially on weekends and school holidays. Walk-in tickets are available but not guaranteed.

Who KidsSTOP suits best

Good for:

  • Toddlers and preschoolers aged 18 months to 5 years.
  • Families with young children who want a dedicated play space away from older school groups.
  • Rainy-day backup plans for the Jurong area.
  • First-time visitors testing whether their child is ready for the main Science Centre.

Not ideal for:

  • Children above 8 years. They will find the activities too simple.
  • Families on a tight budget. KidsSTOP costs extra on top of Science Centre admission.
  • Children who prefer outdoor or high-energy play. KidsSTOP is gentle and structured.
